Hi All,

Can anyone recommend any wrist or elbow supports they have found useful for things like typing please?

Many Thanks, NatalieSmile

Hi Natalie

I haven't found any physical supports that help typing. I used wrist straps for a while but they tended to impede typing rather than help it.

What I have found useful though is dictation software, to dramatically limit the amount of physical typing. I did a post about it a while ago. I will find it and bump it up so you can see it

Thank-you, but mainly for microscope, which sadly doesn't obey my voice!

Hi Natalie

I too am a typist and got two wrist supports from the OT (they are strap on and very supportive). I don't use them all the time but mainly when I am due to type quite a lot. I find them not too cumbersome and quite useful really. I haven't been advised or given any elbow supports though.

Hope this finds you well and is useful.

Kind regards.
Lisa

I also have wrist splints supplied by physio - on my 4th pair. Nothing for elbows.

They stabilise my wrists but allow my fingers sufficient movement to type. I had purchased a nice pair of black ones but the splints come too far up the hand making typing more painful. The key is to try them on first! RollEyes

Although I don't use them for typing, I have resting splints to wear at night. They are moulded to your shape and strapped on, theoretically keeping wrists and fingers straight (my fingers still manage to make a fist). Not sure that they are widely available though as apparently rather expensive.

I don't know if you can have special software but I swear by my RSI guard - it is to limit the use of the mouse as it will click for you automatically or you can programme keys to perform different functions.

Hope some of that helps.

Angie
